Toffifee Spec Ad – Nougat in a Caramel Cup
Personal project, 2023 – simulated with Houdini, rendered with Octane Render in Cinema 4D, compositing in After Effects.
About the project
This personal project from 2023 is a spec ad for Toffifee, designed in the classic look of a confectionery commercial. A whole hazelnut drops into a caramel cup, then creamy nougat flows in, wraps around the nut and fills the cup.
Warm colours, hazelnut leaves in the background and close, calm camera angles create the appetising feel known from advertising. Two perspectives run stacked on top of each other in the vertical format.
Technique
The nougat was simulated in Houdini as a viscous liquid. The hazelnut and the caramel cup act as collision objects along and inside which the cream flows, piles up and smooths out.
The scene was assembled in Cinema 4D and rendered with Octane Render – with soft, warm lighting and glossy surfaces. In After Effects, the two shots were combined into the vertical format and colour-matched.
