Twisted Cords – Twisting Ropes in Cinema 4D
Personal project, 2023 – animated in Cinema 4D, rendered with Octane Render.
About the project
"Twisted Cords" is a personal, experimental project from 2023. Colourful braided cords snake through the frame, form loops, twist around each other and finally come together in a new shape.
The appeal lies in playing with an everyday material: ropes and cords feel familiar, but their movement in the film is deliberately playful and surprising. An analogue film look rounds off the short clip.
Technique
The animation was created in Cinema 4D. The cords are based on splines shaped into ropes with a braided structure, so that even several strands twisting together can be depicted cleanly.
Rendering was done with Octane Render. The light, soft background and a shallow depth of field bring out the colours and fine texture of the braided surfaces.
