Air Jordan Spec Ad – Sneaker Dissolving into Particles

Personal project, 2025 – particle simulation with X-Particles, rendered with Octane Render in Cinema 4D.

About the project

This personal project from 2025 is a spec ad for the Air Jordan 1 – created without a brief to show how a product can be staged with a particle simulation. The sneaker in its classic red, black and white colourway floats against a light background. Then it dissolves from back to front into a stream of particles.

What remains is a white, unpainted shoe – almost like a blank. The idea behind it: the colour is literally blown off the shoe, revealing the pure form of the design.

Technique

The particle simulation was created with X-Particles in Cinema 4D. The particles are emitted from the surface of the shoe and take on its colour, so the stream carries the red and black areas of the sneaker away with it. At the same time, the surface is switched over to the white material piece by piece.

Rendering was done with Octane Render. The light, neutral background and soft floor shading keep the scene calm, so the contrast between the dark particle stream and the clean white of the shoe comes through fully.
