Mercedes Spec Ad – Vehicle in an Alpine Landscape
Personal project, 2024 – environment from World Creator, shading and rendering in Cinema 4D/Octane, compositing in After Effects.
About the project
This personal project from 2024 is a spec ad for Mercedes-Benz – created without a brief, to demonstrate skills in vehicle simulation, storytelling and editing. A vehicle moves through an alpine landscape of mountains, clouds and a winding mountain pass.
The project was technically and narratively ambitious: beyond the vehicle simulation itself, it was about timing, camera work and a cinematic arc – made in collaboration with zweisekundenstille.de, with warm thanks for their help.
Technique
The landscape was generated in World Creator and exported into Cinema 4D, where it was shaded and combined with the vehicle. The entire scene was rendered with Octane Render.
Final compositing – color grading, atmosphere and polish – was done in After Effects. This workflow of terrain generator, 3D shading and separate compositing made it possible to refine environment and vehicle independently before bringing everything together in the edit.
