Stanfour “Learning to Breathe” – 3D Shots (Cutdown)
Client work for Q-Film Filmproduktion, 2012 – 3D in Cinema 4D, compositing in After Effects.
About the project
This client project was created in 2012 on behalf of Q-Film Filmproduktion for the music video to “Learning to Breathe” by the German pop-rock band Stanfour, released on their third studio album “October Sky”. The song describes the feeling of being overwhelmed by life's challenges and speaks of resilience, hope and a new beginning after difficult times.
I created the 3D shots for the video: a space capsule orbits the moon, sets course for Earth, re-enters the atmosphere in a glowing blaze and finally lands under parachutes in a vast desert landscape – a homecoming that fits the theme of a new beginning.
Technique
The capsule, moon, Earth and the space shots were created in Cinema 4D. Rendering was done – back then – with Cinema 4D's standard renderer.
In compositing in After Effects, light effects, the glowing re-entry and the integration of the capsule into the landscape footage were added, matched to the cinematic look of the music video.
